Peter Brown, was not only a leader in bringing homestay accommodation to the forefront of our industry over 25 years of owning Hosts International — he was a man of deep integrity, warmth and laughter, and quiet strength. His dedication to work, belief in Homestays adding value to a students journey, quality standards, belief in people and loyalty and meaningful cross-cultural experiences helped shape the values our company continues to uphold.

To Honour His Legacy, We are Proud to Launch.

Hosts International’s Non Executive Advisory Circle.

Peter was known for being super friendly, transparent and open and straight-talking — a trusted and well-respected voice in the industry. He valued honest conversations, shared experiences, and supported many.

In that same spirit, Harsha Brown will lead and convene the Peter Brown Advisory Circle — a small, trusted group of industry peers and long-standing connections who share our values and approach.

This circle will:

• Offer guidance, insight, and constructive challenge
• Share experience to support sustainable growth and stability
• Act as a sounding board for Harsha as she continues to lead Hosts International forward
• Help ensure the company evolves while staying true to its foundations

More than a formal board, this is a collective of like-minded individuals — people Peter respected and Harsha continues to trust — whose knowledge, honesty, and integrity will support the next chapter of the business.

Through this, Harsha honours Peter’s way of working and being: collaborative, thoughtful, resiliant, human, real and grounded in strong relationships — while continuing to lead with her own strength, care, and vision.

The Peter Brown Homestay Bursary.

In collaboration with our trusted partners, we will offer a select number of free or subsidised homestay places each year in Peter’s name.

These will be awarded to students from underrepresented backgrounds or those in financial hardship, giving them the opportunity to experience a safe and enriching stay in the UK or Ireland — something Peter strongly believed in.

A Commitment to Empowering Women in Business & the workplace

Peter believed in fairness and giving people a chance — especially women and young professionals. His quiet feminism showed in how he supported his wife, daughter and close colleagues to grow and lead.

As part of his legacy, we remain committed to providing mentorship, training, and visibility to women across the international education and homestay sectors. This is embedded in our company culture, hiring practices, and our broader legacy commitments.
